Hunting
New Caledonia & NZ Trophy Hunting conducts hunting Safaris on a 7-day basis, including arrival and departure days, which will give you a full 5 days plus of hunting.
Due to local weekend activities, it is much preferred to arrive on a Sunday and depart on a Saturday, to maximise your hunting days. Hunts can be on a 1 x 1 or 2 x 1 basis and Non-Hunters are most welcome.
The Best time for Hunting Javan Rusa Deer is in July through to September, as this is their rut season.
Method of Hunting
Early morning starts are required to ambush the Deer as they return to the forest after feeding on the open flats at night. As the day warms up, we take position on prominent hilltops to glass areas, which may locate a rutting Stag. After having lunch, we reposition ourselves and wait for the Deer to return to the open flats before dark. It is pretty standard to hear many Stags roaring from our vantage position and quite possible to see hundreds of Deer at one time.
The deer are processed locally, and nothing is wasted.
Firearms / Ammunition
Preferred maximum calibre is 300 Win Mag.
New Caledonia & NZ Trophy Hunting have a 270 Win Mag, a 300 Win Mag & a 300 Wetherby for use if preferred at no charge. 20 rounds of ammunition per firearm allowed
